Concern for the horrors of the world and acceptance of satellite data from stranger realities intruding into one’s life and dreams feels like a hypnotic collapse that is emotionally paralyzing. It gets strange when these moments begin to interlace with our own memories. Mesmerizing Catastrophes reflects on this emotional state while the conscious mind confronts the horrors of war, and how the numbness of the camera turns people into bystanders and helpless witnesses, creating a distance and normalizing the nightmarish images of the aftermath. It is a visualization of a multilayered reality, interactions between natural and unnatural forces and the response of one’s consciousness to a vast human catastrophe.
